Judge Sonja N. Brown is running for an open Superior Court position in Cobb County, where she currently serves as a judge on the Cobb County Magistrate Court. She has over 25 years of combined professional experience, having held legal and business positions in both the private and public sector.

Judge Brown has made her home in Cobb County for nearly 25 years and brings the most experience in the Superior Court to the 2022 race. Judge Brown currently sits by designation for the Superior Court, handling hearings for probable cause and Temporary Protective Orders. Judge Brown also presides over warrant application and ordinance violation hearings.

Prior to her appointment as a Magistrate Court judge, Judge Brown served for 14 years in leadership positions at two of the largest District Attorney’s offices in Georgia where she handled complex felony cases, including sexual assault, rape, and child abuse cases.  Previous to her service as a prosecutor, Judge Brown worked as staff counsel in a corporate legal department at a technology company. Prior to attending law school, she served for several years at the same company in various leadership positions.

She is active in several national and local Bar associations and serves in various leadership positions. Living by the mantra that to whom much is given, much is required, Judge Brown is a firm believer in giving back, and serves her community in many different capacities through her involvement in both civic and community organizations.

Judge Brown is the former co-host, and associate producer of the Fulton Government Television (FGTV) program, Fulton at Work.  A published author, in 2006, she co-wrote and co-released the book, “Fueled by Greatness – 10 Cutting Edge Strategies for Accelerating Your Destiny Now!,” and in 2007, Judge Brown participated in the inaugural class of Creative Connections, a program of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism of the State of Georgia, that spotlights the artistic engagements of Georgia attorneys.

A dynamic and prolific speaker, Judge Brown is frequently requested to deliver keynote speeches, as well as moderate and serve on panels. She has been featured in the Atlanta Tribune Magazine and profiled by her alma mater Clark Atlanta University, as the Alumni of the Day.

Judge Brown has been fortunate to hold many important positions throughout her career, but of all the positions she holds, Judge Brown is most proud of being an aunt to her two nieces and four nephews.
